The Throne of Sin

Life is funny. At least, that is what I always say. We can find humor in most things, even in the most serious of circumstances. For example, when I was in the military, I had an unfortunate incident when I got some metal bits into my eye. I had to wait quite a while before I could be removed off post and be taken to the hospital. While there, I joked with the nurses and doctors and needless to say they were a bit amused and amazed by my attitude. I put it simply that I could whine about my condition which would solve nothing and make everyone miserable or I could try to at least joke about it and make the situation a little more bearable. Luckily for me, I regained the sight in my eye after about 2 or 3 days. In this respect, life can be humorous, but there is one respect that is never amusing and that is mortal sin.

Oh, how the temptations of the heart and the blindness of the mind lure the soul to misguided judgements and we as human abound in poor judgement, but how the depravity of our actions place us in darkness is not amusing or humorous. Over the last few years, I have watched emotionally charged arguments disparage the voice of reason and have allowed many to rationalize sinful actions to ease the erroneous conscience. I have seen this happen in the war against abortion, contraception and most recently in the war to maintain traditional marriage.

With the spread of socialistic ideas, nihilistic mentalities and relativistic thought, we have beheld a society that has either abandoned God or has attempted to mold God into the vision of their sinful nature; however, God is unchanging. The morality which he has passed down will not bend, flutter or disappear because people decide it would be easier if His laws were interpreted in a different way.

This utter disregard for the law of God is nothing short of blaspheme, for it is the same as saying:
"I do indeed believe, O God, that I was created by Thy almighty power, redeemed by Thy mercy, made a child predilection by Thy bounty, I know that Thou hast promised me eternal life, all the sweetest bliss of heaven. I am also well aware that this accursed Satan, Thy great enemy and mine, is prepared to strip me of all that is good, and hurl me down into everlasting perdition. And yet because Satan temps me now, because he suggests to me a thought of unchastity, a desire for revenge, a movement of envy, I choose rather to yield to this impulse and thereby render myself deserving of everlasting punishment, than resist and repel the evil suggestion and thus merit heaven hereafter and spiritual graces now. Therefore, I deliberately, and of my own free will, turn from Thee, O God; I follow by choice this hateful demon, whom I obey in preference to Thee.
Although Thou art my God and my Lord, although Thou hast forbidden us to transgress Thy law, although sin is an infinite offense against Thee, yet I do not care, I will commit sin all the same, I will not desist because it outrage Thee. Nay, more, if I could do all in the malice of my heart I would do, I should rob Thee of Thy Godhead, I should cast Thee down from Thy throne, and in Thy place I should set up sin, and worship that as my god. I love sin, I desire to revel in it, and find in it my sole happiness". (The Four Last Things: Death, Judgement, Hell, Heaven (1900), p. 80-81, Fr. Martin von Cochem, O.S.F.C.)

Many in society are willingly choosing to follow their impulse and desire, submitting to the hateful demon who leads all to perdition. They blasphemously call joining of a man and man or a woman and a woman marriage, and now, this plague of deceptive thought has made its way to Latin America. [Argentine couple travel to Tierra del Fuego for Latin America's 1st gay marriage] It would seem that some law makers, and politicians in parts of Argentina tried to maintain the truth of natural law; however, some sought the liberality of modern conventions of thought, doing away with eternal truth and subverting it with the whispers of the master of lies; thereby, placing sin upon the throne to be worshipped and revelling in it as their sole happiness.

Sadly, sin is no laughing matter. The turning away from God never is. There is little doubt that the difficulties faced by those with same-sex attraction are a heavy cross to bear, but it is exactly the extreme weight of that cross that makes it a way to purification and sanctification; then, as are all crosses that are bore by people, because they allow us to imitate Christ and to share in His redemptive suffering.
Chastity and homosexuality
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.  (Catechism of the Catholic Church)

It is therefore necessary that the voice of truth continue to trumpet despite swooning masses falling to their knees at the throne of sin. We must continue to battle on and pray for those in sin, the family, Holy Mother Church and that the will of God prevail. In this war, we cannot remain silent for the enemies of truth are vocal and if we sit idly by, we will watch the mores of society dissipate before our very eyes. We must support our brethren in the crosses they bear, but we must not be complicit in the subversion of society and the destruction of marriage. We must not be blinded by emotion but be led by faith and reason and follow the eternal truth.

Prayer for the Family
by Pope John Paul II

Lord God, from you every family in heaven and on earth takes its name.
Father, you are love and life.
Through Your Son, Jesus Christ, born of woman, and through the Holy Spirit, fountain of divine charity, grant that every family on earth may become for each successive generation a true shrine of life and love.
Grant that Your grace may guide the thoughts and actions of husbands and wives for the good of their families and of all the families of the world.
Grant that the young may find solid support in the family for human dignity and for their growth in truth and love.
Grant that love, strengthened by the Sacrament of Marriage, may prove mightier than all the weaknesses and trials through which our families sometimes pass.
Through the intercession of the Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that the Church may fruitfully carry out her worldwide mission in and through the family.
Through Christ our Lord, Who is the Way, the Truth and the Life for ever and ever. Amen.

This is what our society is today. This is why everyone who is twisted thinks they are free to practice what they really feel and knowingly hide their twisted ness by trying to change God's commands with liberalism.
