Canon 915

Canon 915 states: " Those who have been excommunicated or interdicted after the imposition or declaration of the penalty and others obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion ." So with this I must I ask, why is it that bishops and clergy still allow pro-abortion politicians and others who obstinately propose legislation against Catholic moral teaching to receive the Eucharist? In the United States there is an open battle transpiring between the conservative and liberal sides of the church. This battle is most visible in the debate between the "culture of life" and the "culture of death". However, the battle field extends far beyond the U.S. borders and can be viewed on every continent and has been spoken of the bishops in Africa, Europe and Asia, but it is in America that the battle is most vocal. Since the 1970s, abortion has been legal in the United States and countless lives have been lost to this demo

The Fight for Our Lady

Be in the world, but not of it. These are words that we are supposed to live by; however, it would seem that many have forgotten this bit wisdom and believe they can serve two masters, or have just chosen to serve the world. I write this in light of the recent re-election of Fr. Jenkins, as President of Notre Dame University. It's funny to think that a man who has adamantly gone against so many Catholic teachings could remain as head of a "Catholic" university; furthermore, he is head of a Catholic university named after Our Lady. Fr. Jenkins raised controversy when he allowed President Barack Obama to speak at the University, but this situation was further exacerbated when he allowed him to be presented with an honorary degree. It could be argued that Fr. Jenkins is a secular priest and therefore has no need to follow the directive of United States Council of Catholic Bishops, which basically stated that pro-abortion politicians were to receive no honors from Cathol

The Battle Rages

A battle rages. It is no mere battle between soldiers on the battle field, but it is the battle between light and dark, good and evil. It is a battle for souls. I believe that no picture makes this battle as clear as the one which rages against the culture of death, against Satan and his minions. Reading the words "culture of death", "Satan and his minions" may turn your head for a moment, but it is nothing but the truth. Everyday pills which promise to keep children from being created are sold and that in itself may seem minuscule; however, when you consider that these same pills kill an embryo, you can realize that these very drugs run counter to God's design. Even if you do not want to think in terms of God's design, you believe yourself to be science minded, you would have to admit that contraceptive pills are acting against the body's natural function. They unnaturally change hormone levels and effect the endocrine system and when conception does
