Old Tricks, Same Culture of Death

The Culture of Death is once again on the rampage attempting to silence truth. The mass media, for the most part, played a bias role in covering this year's March for Life and now we have pro-abortionists trying to silence the message of Tim Tebow and his mother [ Petition Launched: Support CBS's Decision to Air Tim Tebow Super Bowl Ad ].   Adding to these woes is the deception is death guised in the cover of philanthropy. We can take into consideration the recent earthquake and destruction in Haiti. Organization likes Caritas and Catholic Relief Services made immediate efforts to reach out to traumatized people, people who have lost everything, providing food, water, shelter, etc. Meanwhile, International Planned Parenthood Federation is concerned about bringing their contraception and abortion culture to the already ravaged country. The organization is whining about its two lost clinics and by the description of their blog , you would think that they were adminst...

A Thought on Suffering

Staring at ceiling fan for 4 days can have an amazing impact on a person, especially if that fan happens to be in a hospital ward. Now, I really didn't stare at the fan literally for 4 days, but I think you can understand the monotony of the hospital environment. However, it did give me ample time to pray, read (when my sight returned to normal) and meditate and what I found, once again, is a God who truly loves mankind. I have been pondering over the question that I often hear posed by people: "If God loves, why does he let us suffer?", and my answer is: because He loves us. Now, I am sure that there may be question marks going off in some heads right now, but let's think about it for a moment. Firstly, anyone who appreciates heat must have an understanding of what cold is. Take into consideration those who live in the northern United States, Europe, etc., they will understand how precious warmth can be after facing the perils of a winter's day. Therefore, it w...

Parents are the First Catechists

Anyone who has ever handled a knife understands that its blade must be kept sharp. If we allow the blade to dull, tarnish, rust or erode in any fashion, the knife is no longer a fully functional tool. Just like a knife, religious formation must be constantly honed. It too has the ability to be sharp and cut through the nonsense of today's worldly rhetoric that would destroy the soul if given the opportunity, but it too can tarnish, rust, dull and erode; therefore, it is imperative that our young people are given proper instruction so that they will be well formed and able members of the Christian community. To be well formed in religious living, one must have a respectful understanding of holy religion and eventually grow to understand that one's life goal should be the imitation of Christ, but too often it is the expectation of families that the church catechists will instill this deep understanding in cooperation with the priests and religious. As a result of this skewed m...

Planned Parenthood And Satanism

Image
Satanism is the imitation of Satan through sin. Saint Gregory the Great said, that all those who sinned, so long as they were under the influence of this sin, were members of the mystical body of Satan. (Christiani, Evidence of Satan in the Modern World,  1959, p.173) The next logical step is to ask, what is sin? There are many ways to sin, but I think Saint Augustine defines it best: "factum vel dictum vel concupitum alquid contra legem aeternam"; "any thought, word or deed against the eternal law of God". Continuing from this line of thought, we may understand that sin is evil, as anything that goes against the will of God is the antithesis of God and God is all good; consequently, sin is evil. Thus, acknowledging that one form of Satanism is the imitation of Satan through sin, and that those who sinned, remaining under the influence of that sin, are members of the mystical body of Satan, I propose that Planned Parenthood and those who support their organization a...

I Love My Wife!

I LOVE MY WIFE! For those of you who read this blog regularly, you know that I have mentioned that I am ill, and I must say that in this modern world I am quite blessed to have a woman who stands by me, despite my frequent sickness. When she first met me, I was not exactly the epitome of health; however, I was in great shape and had none of the medical conditions that I have today. As our relationship developed, I was diagnosed with a variety of problems to include hemiplegic migraine, chronic fatigue syndrome, and severe allergies. The allergies are so severe that they force me to carry around an Epi-pen. Still, my wife, then my fiance, remained by my side and married me, and I have to say that I am quite blessed, as I believe many would not have endured such a tumultuous relationship let along the distance that we had to endure, 10,000 miles (the distance from Singapore to New York). My wife has demonstrated to me the true gift of self-giving. She tirelessly prepares meals ...

Send the Raccolta Prayer for Catholic Politicians to Change Hearts

Recently, there has been an upsurge of 'catholic' politicians speaking out against the Church on moral issues. They have erroneously concluded that their conscience is superior to the guidance of the Church, though neglecting the fundamental reality that their conscience is erroneously guided. Further, some have supposed that their office separates them from their duties as Catholics, when they are acting in the capacity of governmental official. However, this is also wrong. To be a Catholic is to lead a life that was set forth by Christ, passed down to His apostles and to His Church. It is method of living which has ingrained into it a deep moral tradition which cannot be ignored. To be a Catholic Christian means to show Christ in all you do, not only on Sunday when you are before parishioners. From the Mass, we are sent out to love and serve the Lord, not to subdue our religious fervor or belief to appease others. Rep. Nancy Pelosi [ click to read Catholic Without a...

A New Year's Resolution

Image
Are you looking over the last year and lamenting over all the things that you've done wrong? Is your heart heavy with sadness at the start of this new year? Do you feel like you want to get the weight of the world off your shoulders and be right with God? Well, I have two solutions for you.... The Sacrament of Reconciliation What better way to be reconcilled with Our Lord and have one's soul filled with life? It is this beautiful Sacrament that allows us to demonstrate humility in that we must expose our true sinful nature to another, but more so, we must seek Our Father's forgiveness. However, we must remember to approach Him with contrition, a true feeling of remorse for our wrong doings, and a longing to be closer to Him. With this beautiful Sacrament, we are once again alive and able to continue the battle against our sinful nature and seek Christian perfection. But why stop at confession? Why not let this new year abound with graces and make the resolution to...
