Good, Evil and False Teachers
"Woe to you that call evil good, and good evil: that put darkness for light, and light for darkness: that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter" (Is. 5:20).
There has been a steady escalation of people calling good evil and evil good. We have seen the growing trends of abortion on demand throughout the world and many other atrocities, but what has recently caught my attention is the latest news on the euthanasia circuit.
The founder of Dignitas, a pro-euthanasia group, not only proposes to kill off those with terminal illnesses, but wishes to extend it reach to the healthly. The idea of "dying with dignity" has been spreading throughout the western world and also has its influence here in Asia. On the surface, "dying with dignity" seems like a noble sentiment; however, we must never forget that we are creations of God. We were formed by Him. One only need open the book of Genesis, or consider the following: "Behold, O Lord, thou hast known all things, the last and those of old: thou hast formed me, and hast laid thy hand upon me" (Ps. 138 (139)). We belong to Him. He created us. Therefore, we must rely on His providence and not take our death into our own hands no matter the severity of the situation. As the Fifth Commandment teaches us: Thou Shalt not Kill, this extends even to our own person and we must be mindful that
We must be attentive to the fact that false teachings are sweeping society and be mentally prepared to defend against them, and to educate others against their errors. Saint Paul, in his letter to Philippians, gave us a stern warning against false teachers, as he said: "Let us therefore, as may are perfect, be thus minded; and if any thing you be otherwise minded, this also God will reveal to you, nevertheless, whereunto we are come, that we may be of the same mind, let us also continue in the same rule. Be ye followers of me, brethren, and observe them who walk so as to have a model. For many walk, of whom I have told you often (and now tell you again weeping) that they are enemies of the cross of Christ. Whose end is destruction: whose God is their belly: and whose glory is in their shame: who mind earthly things" (3:15 - 19).
The words of leaders and babble of many of society may be as sweet as honey and quite knowledgeable, but they only speak of the world. We must follow the way of Christ and all His saints. The rules set forth by Holy Mother Church are our guide to manoeuvre through this labyrinth of lies. We gaze upon people not by the sweet nectar they spew, but by the fruit they produce and if they produce death they are surely not on the path to Christ. As Saint Peter warns, "And many shall follow their riotousness, through whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of" (2Pet. 2:2). It is these same people who will defile truth and call what is good evil and evil good.

"Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being". (CCC 2258)
